Building community through transformative art education.

Call Home: 2025 Mississippi Invitational

The Black School Magazine Issue #5: The Garden of Revolution is the culminating publication written and designed by the 2024-2025 Design Apprenticeship Cohort. Rooted in advancing young people’s understanding of social, political, and cultural thought, this issue explores themes of Black love, collective healing, and community building. Through studying the work of icons like Malcolm X and bell hooks, students engage in deep dialogue and collective reflection, transforming critical thought into creative action. This magazine promotes literacy and solidarity, offering a bold vision for liberation through design.

Guided by community research, apprentices interviewed community members who are local experts in social justice. Junior Designers designed, photographed, and wrote this publication.
