This project, TBS: Magazine Issue #4, is the product of The Liberation Library, a Black radical reading group designed by TBS Program Manager Lana Meyon and Andrea Fullington of Black Teacher Griot for the TBS: Design Studio’s Activism Apprenticeship Program. Apprentices, Morgan Davis, Trinity Calvin, D’aliyah Jackson, Lyle Jones, and Zayle Everage, studied and discussed seminal texts from historical Black revolutionaries and reflected through various writing genres and forms. This year’s themes included Fascism, Prison Abolition, Community Control, Black Feminism, and Self-Determination. Through deep study and reflection, apprentices created written works to accompany and elevate their graphic art. TBS: Magazine Issue #4 was produced under the mentorship of Lana Meyon, Andrea Fullington, Joseph Cuillier, Jihad Doucette, and Keelan Jiles.
